Bio / Experience
Gordon “Gordie” Meek was born into a golf-loving family and took up the game as a child. Gordie’s father, Tom, was an outstanding Toledo-area amateur golfer and Club Champion at Valleywood Golf Club in Swanton. Gordie’s mother, Doris, was also a Ladies’ Club Champion at Byrnwyck (now Brandywine) Golf Club in Maumee.
Gordie’s original professional instruction came from Russ Milne, a PGA pro and teaching professional at the former Sunnybrook Golf Club in Northwest Toledo. While in his teens Gordie won the Toledo Junior Golf Championship and the Ohio Junior Golf Championship. Gordie went on to be an all-conference golfer at Sylvania High School as part of their Northern Lakes League championship team. Gordie also played college golf at the University Of Toledo, before playing multiple professional Florida “mini-tours” in the 1980’s. Gordie has since regularly competed in area professional tournaments including the Ohio Open, Ohio Senior Open, and the Toledo Open, and has also studied intensely for many years with noted “Gravity Golf” guru David Lee, instructor to legendary PGA professionals including Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Lee Trevino.
Gordie first began giving professional lessons in the 1980’s, working with golfers of all ages on improving their game. Over the past four decades Gordie has provided instruction to hundreds of people aspiring to improve their golfing experience. Gordie believes the best instruction is one-on-one, minus many of the gimmicks common in today’s golf instruction, and is willing to work with golfers of all levels of ability to make golf fun and more enjoyable.
